Food·Farm·Film·Wine Festival - Aug 16-18, 2013
Join Slow Food Western Slope for our 5th annual Food·Farm·Film·Wine Festival in Western Colorado’s Food & Wine Mecca of Paonia, Colorado! We will be highlighting the farms and wineries throughout the North Fork Valley. (See last year's photos)
August 16, Friday evening, local chefs pair with local farms to create delicious tastings of North Fork Valley abundance - "Taste the Valley" at the Paradise Theatre. Then settle in and enjoy the humorous and informative film Bag It.
On Saturday, August 17 you will have the opportunity to visit and tour vibrant Valley farms in Paonia: Small Potatoes Farm & Bakery, Austin Family Farm, Delicious Orchards and Zephyros Farm and Garden. (Learn more about the farms and their locations.) On your touring route, stop off at the wineries of the West Elks AVA for some tastings. Then it's off to savor mouth-watering, local chef-prepared appetizers and wine at the Paradise Theatre and watch Genetic Roulette, a very dynamic documentary film about the impact of genetically engineered foods in the US. You'll finish the evening at Fresh & Wyld Farmhouse Inn for a sumptuous dinner prepared by Chef Dava Parr featuring wonderful local harvests.
On Sunday, August 18 you’ll begin at the Paradise Theatre with a delectable continental breakfast and then view the film Dirt! The Movie, inspired by the acclaimed book by William Bryant Logan; a movie that tells the story of the glorious and unappreciated ground under our feet. Afterwards, we’ll have a Chef Dava Parr-inspired brunch at Orchard Valley Farms with local music.
This event is being brought to you by our sponsors: Town of Paonia, Fresh & Wyld, First State Bank of Colorado, Avalanche Cheese, Delicious Orchards, the Paradise Theatre, Western Colorado Congress, Orchard Valley Farms and the Valley Organic Growers Association!
All proceeds from this event will be donated to two local organizations, Citizens for a Healthy Community and the Western Slope Conservation Center. We want to recognize their efforts and their willingness to collaborate with other organizations to save our Valley--our local food shed and our health--from the possible dangers from gas and oil exploration.
